Services covered

For the monthly fee, Robert Finger Software provides:

  • Hosting on Azure, including the domain's TLS certificate
  • Uptime target of 99%, excluding scheduled maintenance windows announced at least 24 hours in advance
  • Automatic backups of the database, retained for 30 days
  • Security patching of the underlying platform and framework
  • Monitoring for outages, with the developer notified before the client typically would be

Support hours & response times

Support is provided by a single developer, not a 24/7 team — response times reflect that.

Bug fixes vs. new development

A bug fix (covered by the included hours below, at no extra charge): something that used to work, or was part of the original build, and is now broken or behaving incorrectly — a broken link, a page that errors out, a booking that doesn't save, a display glitch.

New development (billed at the hourly rate below): anything that adds a capability the site didn't have before — a new page, a new integration, a new report, a redesign of an existing feature, or a request to change how something is supposed to work rather than fixing where it's broken.

When it's unclear which one a request is, the developer will say so before starting work — never bill first and explain after.

Fees

ItemAmount
Initial build (one-time)$2,100
Monthly hosting & support$100/month
Included in the monthly feeUp to 5 hours/month of bug fixes
Additional bug-fix hours beyond 5/month$65/hour
New development / feature requests$65/hour, quoted before work starts

Unused bug-fix hours don't roll over month to month. Any single new-development request is quoted as a flat price up front when the scope is small enough to estimate confidently, or hourly with a not-to-exceed cap for larger work.

Requesting new features

  1. Client describes what they want (the form above, email, text, or a call)
  2. Developer estimates the hours and sends a quote — flat price when the scope is clear, hourly with a cap otherwise
  3. Client approves before any work starts
  4. Work is delivered and deployed; invoice sent on completion (or monthly for larger, multi-week work)

No new-development work begins without an approved quote.

What's not covered

  • Content/copy changes that aren't bugs (updating prices, hours, descriptions) — these are quick, so they're treated as bug-fix-hour work, not new development
  • Third-party service costs passed through directly (payment processing fees, a paid API subscription the client chooses to add, domain registration/renewal)
  • Design work beyond what's needed to implement a requested feature (a full visual redesign is new development, quoted separately)
  • Data entered incorrectly by store staff (that's a training issue, not a bug)
  • Damage from the client's own changes if they edit the underlying code or database directly

Term, payment & termination

  • Term: month-to-month, starting on go-live
  • Payment: the build fee is due at launch; the monthly hosting fee is billed monthly in advance; hourly invoices for approved development work are due within 15 days
  • Late payment: hosting may be paused if payment is more than 30 days late, with notice given first
  • Cancellation: either side can cancel with 30 days' notice; on cancellation, the client receives a full export of their data and content, and the developer will assist with migration to a new host at the standard hourly rate
  • Site ownership: the client owns all content, data, and branding; the underlying custom software was built by, and remains licensed for this site's use from, Robert Finger Software
